Book Review #3: Fantasy

I think this series needs no introduction or explanation. I was skeptical about this series though, not going to lie. My bar is set pretty high after ACOTAR and didn’t think the hype was deserved . My number one #bookdaddy will forever be #Rhysand. However, Xaden Riorson was certainly vying for a spot among my top five. Add in some magic and dragons, and well yeah hook, line, and sink her.

I will say Rebecca Yarros is the queen of cliffhangers. I have read lots of series and I’m no stranger to cliffhangers, but I feel like these are epic. You go from one roller coaster to another and then bam! It all comes to an abrupt stop. I recommend having all three books at the ready so they don’t give you whiplash. Onyx Storm was better than I expected given the hype. Sadly I did catch some spoilers because I honestly didn’t think I’d pick this series up. I’m glad I did though, it was an entertaining ride. Thank you Romina!!

One thing I want to note and this is just me. There was something about the overall story and the characters that felt familiar. As if I’ve met them before. There were moments where I was getting The Hunger Games – meets – Divergence – meets – The Mortal Instruments vibes. All of which I read many, many years ago and didn’t have the spice these have.
